PLANO, Texas, July 1, 2016 — Five Golden LivingCenters have been selected by the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) as recipients of the prestigious AHCA/NCAL Bronze – Commitment to Quality Awards this year. To be selected for one of the independently judged awards, skilled nursing facilities must show an extraordinary ongoing commitment to the delivery of quality patient and resident care, as measured against specific criteria.

The recipients of the Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award are:
GLC – Hillcrest in Fresno, Calif.
GLC – Dunwoody in Atlanta, Ga.
GLC – Kennestone in Marietta, Ga.
GLC – Tifton in Tifton, Ga.
GLC – Smithville in Smithville, Mo.

The AHCA/NCAL Quality Awards are designed to recognize quality achievement, while supporting improvement efforts in long-term care through the promotion of education and awareness. The awards are modeled after the Malcolm Baldrige Award, which is the nation’s highest award for performance excellence.

Including this year’s recipients, Golden Living has earned a total of 344 Quality Awards since AHCA/NCAL started the program in 1996.

“We are proud of the entire staff for their hard work and dedication to our residents and patients in each of these LivingCenters,” says Golden Living President and Chief Executive Officer Neil Kurtz, M.D. “The process to apply for this quality award requires a team approach and an intense focus on quality. We thank them for continuing our mission for improving quality of life through innovative healthcare one person, one family and one community at a time.”

To be selected by AHCA/NCAL as a Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award recipient, a skilled nursing facility must demonstrate an organization-wide commitment to a patient-centered mission, define its principal customers and their expectations and indicate how it is striving to meet their needs and improve processes.

“I applaud the women and men of these Golden LivingCenters for their commitment to improve quality care,” said Christine Boldt, Chair of the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Board of Overseers. “This award is the first step in a program that serves as an essential guide to performance excellence. I encourage these Golden LivingCenters to continue their quality journey.”

A ceremony honoring the recipients of this year’s awards will be held at the AHCA/NCAL 67th Annual Convention and Exposition held October 16-19 in Nashville, Tennessee.
