    Golden LivingCenter - Eldorado in Kansas made a $1,000 donation to Kids Need to Eat. “Our main emphasis is to address food insecurity,” said Judy Storandt, founder of Kids Need to Eat, a summer food program. She said the number of youth they see has increased each summer, with the largest age groups being from 5 to 7 and 9 to 11.

  • Volunteer brightens Golden Living retirement home with gardens

    WAYNESBURG – Karen Cappellini works full-time as a legal secretary and also runs her beef cattle farm in Morgan Township, but recently, she’s tacked on another project to her busy schedule. As a volunteer at Golden LivingCenter in Franklin Township, the 53-year-old started out doing some small painting jobs inside the retirement home, but soon took on the larger project of building multiple gardens at the facility and doing all the landscaping around the campus.

    Five Golden LivingCenters have been selected by the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) as recipients of the prestigious AHCA/NCAL Bronze – Commitment to Quality Awards this year. To be selected for one of the independently judged awards, skilled nursing facilities must show an extraordinary ongoing commitment to the delivery of quality patient and resident care, as measured against specific criteria.

  • Golden LivingCenter - McDonald County Surprises Two with Party

    Zota Baker was recently named the assisted living center's queen through a beauty competition similar to a Miss America Pageant. She will go onto represent the center at the Missouri Health Care Association District 4 Pageant. Also, the Golden Living Center honored Virginia Frisbie, who was named Employee of the Year for the region. Frisbie has worked for the center for 32 years. Community members say they love celebrating as a family.

  • Golden LivingCenter Helps Stroke Patient

    Suffering from two strokes after bypass surgery, John Costa, 54, went to Golden LivingCenter in Murrysville, Pa. to  give him the care and occupational, speech and physical therapy he needed to recover and reclaim his life. John's wife and four children, the youngest at eight years old, thought they were going to lose him in this event, but have been amazed at his progress and recovery.

    While it’ll be a special day for mothers on Sunday, area nursing home facilities are gearing up for an entire week dedicated to older generations with National Nursing Home Week, which runs from May 8-14. Wisconsin Dells Golden Living Center’s Activities Director Diane Block said her facility will kick off the week on Mother’s Day with cake and ice cream for its residents and their families at the facility’s 300 Race St. location.
