Heather Wilson is a registered dietitian with over 17 years of
experience in the field. She is a longstanding member of American
Dietetic Association and practice group for Dietitians in Health
Care Communities.
Heather obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics
from the University of Connecticut and then completed her Masters
degree in nutrition education at Framingham State College. She has
had a passion for the elderly population since she was a child and
has worked in long term care in various capacities during her
career.
She started out as a Dietary Consultant counseling geriatric and
sub-acute residents. Through her company she was then cross-trained
as a Quality Management Specialist preparing living centers for
state and federal department of health surveys. Later, Heather was
promoted to Lead Dietitian and then Regional Dietary Program
Manager overseeing 25 dietitians on the east coast.
Heather has worked on interdisciplinary specialty task forces
for diabetes, renal disease, wound care, falls management and
dysphagia. She provides not only her nutrition expertise but logic
and organizational skills to her teams. She learns best by
application. Heather took her knowledge and desire to help others
to assist her grandmother to prepare foods that her grandfather
could tolerate after several strokes.
Heather is now working from home with the corporate menu
department team for Golden Living while raising two toddlers. She
works with certified dietary managers, registered dietitians, and
executive chefs on developing menus and recipes to improve the
health and satisfaction of our customers throughout the
country.
